I am the founder of 'Art4 Mind' and am a private 'Drawing & Talking' Practitioner. I currently support students' mental health and well-being in Leicester and Leicestershire. I have been working in education for over 12 years and discovered the need for immediate mental health support within the education field and the wider world.
I have experience working with SEND students through my teaching as well as supporting them by using Drawing and Talking interventions. Using my interventions can help students to 'find their voice' and it allows them to explore and process their emotions with a gentle and non-intrustive approach.
I am passionate about providing an affordable service to a range of different people for different needs and to support them through difficult times they may experience.
Drawing and Talking Therapy is the best alternative to CBT and direct talking therapies (which can be limiting in the processing of pain or in the processing of pain or trauma.)
It is an attachment-based therapeutic intervention and designed to complement CAMHS and other specialist therapies.
It allows individuals to discover and communicate emotions through a non-directed technique which sets it apart from existing solution-focused and cognitive-based therapies and interventions.
Drawing and Talking is a therapeutic intervention for both children and adults. It is designed as a short-term pro-active intervention and is intended to complement, rather than replace, the work of Specialist Mental Health Services.
Through a 12-week block of sessions this non-intrusive tool allows children and young people, to bring what they need to their sessions. Utilising drawing as a way to help them express their feelings differently in ordinary verbal language.
Using this therapeutic approach allows individuals to discover and communicate emotions through a non-directed technique. This is what sets Drawing and Talking apart from existing solution-focused and cognitive based therapies and interventions.
